DEEN DAYAL UPADHYAYA GRAMEEN KAUSHALYA YOJANA

The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) announced the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) Antyodaya Diwas, on 25th September 2014. DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth. In Tirunelveli district so far 530 youths were given training in various trades likes Tally ERP Accountant, Basic Sewing Machine Operator, LMV, HMV, Health Auxillary, Garments, Electrical, Welder and Basic fitting works. Among the 530 candidates 377 no of candidates were placed in various reputed companies.

JOB MELA AND JOB FAIRS

In order to bring potential employers and local youths to meet face to face TNSRLM is organizing Job Melas and Job Fairs at district and Block level. In Tirunelveli district for the past 5 years 18 no of Job Melas and 9 no. of Job fair was conducted. Through these 4876 youth have been provided employment.

PROJECT LIFE

The Project Life programme (Livelihoods in Full Employment) aims to promote skills and self-reliance among workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) so that they can support and sustain themselves with alternative work after the 100 days of work scheme. In Tirunelveli district Project Life training has been implemented during 2016-17 so far 34 no of candidates trained under wage employment and 236 no of candidates were trained under self employment category.
